Gideon Army?

Gideon Army?

The story of the 300 Spartans is well acquainted with the latest since the broadcast of the film on TV .
Of course only a movie – albeit a good – but it is based on a true story, the battle of the Thermophyen took place in the year 480 BC . A relatively small Greek army of about 6,000 soldiers held in a bottleneck a much larger force of the Persian Empire (50000-200000 man) for several days on. Until they, caused by a betrayal, could be taken from both sides in a pincer movement. All the 300 Spartans, who had borne the brunt of the fight, lost their lives.

Nearly 1,000 years before that event also a battle with similar power relations took place, but herein 300 men won, without any losses against the enemy, consisting of the united armies of Midian, Amalek and other eastern nations.
Originally, the army of Israel persist out of 32,000 people, but God dictated that all who were fearful or despondent should go home. Then disappeared 22,000 men from the battlefield, only for God  the rest was far too numerous.
He started to select the men, not by their aptitude but by their character, so that only 300 brave warriors still remained.
Together and under God’s guidance Gideon succeeded with his fighters a complete victory over the enemy, who did not fall of them sought salvation in panicky flight.

This historic event is a great example of that under God’s guidance and in fraternal unity with one another, nothing is too big or impossible!
